Introduction Re- do!
INTRODUCTION ON FURNITURE
What is furniture to you? Furniture may come in many forms, such as
tables, chairs, bed, cupboards. The term furniture is a combination of the word
‘furnish’ and ‘fixture’, with the means of decorating a space with an object
that is useable to the users. It is important to select the right piece of
furniture for a space as the combination of furniture used will actually form
the identity of the space. For instance, A bed; when it is placed in a room;
people will automatically associate that space to a bed room. However, in this
modern era, space has become an issue in the metropolis. People find that they
are getting lesser space compared to the suburban people. Thus, the architecture of furniture has to
adapt to the change too; from a singular usage to a multi- usage furniture.
Just imagine, a chair combines with a table or another chair to form something
with dual usage or even a table combines with storage! All this sounded very
out of place during the 1700’s. But in the olden days, dual usage furniture has
already been in use; people did not realize it because their forms did not
defer much from the original look of a table or a chair. They can mostly be seen in the form of a storage letter desk,
where people those days use it to write letters; and people find it space
saving with value for money. As centuries past, humans begin to undergo world
advancement furniture to evolved, the idea of having multi- purpose furniture
caught on as there is a demand from the public, due to the issue with space; to
stress on that, furniture, being the building block or make up of a space planning
that is important in architecture changes in form along the centuries. Throughout
the years since the first multi- purpose furniture was introduced, it has
evolved into very unique shapes and sizes which defies the term of a proper
chair or table. This could be based on their usage of material to make the
furniture or the form that they take shape. One question comes in to mind, does
the public all prefer multi-purpose furniture? Could they all accept the
transformation that multi-purpose have gone through?
Therefore, a study will be done based on the evolution of a singular
purpose furniture towards a multi- purpose furniture with investigations
concerning feedbacks from the users whom chooses the product and also the
non-users whom did not prefer the product. This study paper would cover 3
important chapters excluding the introduction and conclusion.
P/s : will include pictures / citation and all if possible ( still undergoing development)

MY FIRST 1000 WORDS
So,
What is furniture? What is it to you, is more of the question.Furniture
can come in many forms, such as tables, chairs, bed, cupboards. The term
furniture is a combination of the word ‘furnish’ and ‘fixture’, with the means
of decorating a space with an object that is useable to the users. It is
important to select the right piece of furniture for a space as the combination
of furniture used will actually form the identity of the space. For instance, A bed; everyone knows that a
bed belongs to the bedroom, when you have a bed in a room, people will
automatically associate that space is a bed room. However, in this modern age, space
has become so important in the metropolis.
Thus the architecture of furniture has to be reconsidered too; from a
singular usage to a multi- usage furniture. Imagine, one day, a chair combines
with a table or a chair combines with a storage; or maybe even a table with a
bed! All this sounded very out of place during the 1700’s. But actually in the
olden days, dual usage furniture has already been in use; mostly in the form of
a storage letter desk, where people those days use it to write letters. The
reason to having multi- purpose furniture is because there are issues with
space, and furniture, being the building block or make up of a space
planning that is stressed upon in
architecture have to adapt to the change too. But throughout the years since
the first multi- purpose furniture was introduced, it has evolved into very
unique shapes and sizes which defies the term of a proper chair or table. This
could be based on their usage of material to make the furniture or the form
that they take place in. One question comes in to mind, so would you choose
multi- purpose furniture at this era of the 21st century? Does everyone like it?
Therefore, a study will be done based on the evolution of a singular
purpose furniture towards a multi- purpose furniture with concerns of the users
whom chooses the product and also the non-users whom did not opt for the product.
Aim of this study is to solve the issue
of the non-users not opting for multi- purpose furniture and also to receive
feedbacks from the current users of multi-purpose furniture to further improve
the product’s be it ergonomics, material or form to cater for everyone. The
method to achieve the aim would be through looking through the past history of
how the multi-purpose furniture was born, the reason that led rise to the start
of multi- purpose furniture and whom started the idea. Whether or not the idea
does catch on will be discussed in the chapters of the thesis. Other than that,
interviews will be done towards a multi-
purpose furniture designer on the issues they consider when they start
designing a multi- purpose furniture, the process, the usage of materials and
the form it will take shape in. The most important part that comes into the
study is the feedback from the surveys that will be done towards the public of
Malaysian metropolitan people on their opinions towards multi- purpose furniture
today and back then in the 19th century. Also, to see if they are
currently a user or a fan of multi- purpose furniture. It is important for the
study to also find out what are their feedbacks using the multi- purpose
furniture in their homes; if it is child friendly or elderly friendly. For
those who are currently non users of multi-purpose furniture, the study would
want to find out the reason for not opting for multi- purpose furniture.
Self-observation would also be done at IKEA store in The Curve, Mutiara
-Damansara on what age of people would be the one choosing that multi-purpose
furniture. Do they fall under the category of the kids 3-11 years old, teens
12-19 years old, young adults from 20-30 years old, maybe those in the category
30- 50 years old or even the age category of 50 – 70 years old.
This study paper would cover 3 important chapters excluding the
introduction and conclusion. Chapter 1 would be stating the variety of
furniture’s there are in the market; what falls under the category of furniture.
Also how they play a role in architecture. Furthermore chapter 1 will also talk
about the evolution from the one function furniture towards the start of the
multi- purpose furniture. The types of material that furniture is commonly made
with and also the new materials that have been introduced into the making of
furniture’s in this 21st century. Chapter 1 will already find out
the reason for the change towards the multi- purpose furniture and also who
initiated the change and brought it into the furniture market industry. It’s
also an important point in chapter 1 to state out when was the change initiated
and from where did the change first started before moving all over the world.
Moving on towards chapter 2 of the contents of this paper, the impact of
the change towards multi-purpose furniture will be highlighted deeply. For
instance, How it affects the public, furniture market industry, the mindset of
the one who are attracted to it and not attracted to it and lastly what reason
actually made people attracted towards multi-purpose furniture.
Then, in the 3rd chapter, it will be talking about the reason
of the non-accepter of multi-purpose furniture. Eg. Why do some feel not
connected with multi-purpose furniture? Was it the material? Or the form? Or
were they unfriendly to certain group of age; for example the ones ranging from
50-70 years old. What made them not opt for multi-purpose furniture? Chapter 3
will find out more regarding this issue.
After highlighting the issues faced by multi-purpose furniture users,
the conclusion of the paper will find methods of promotion to make more people
select multi-purpose furniture, and also to fix issues faced in chapter 3 by
stating when ,how ,what can be implied to promote the usage of multi-purpose furniture.
As for the current users of multi-purpose furniture, this paper will also get
their feedbacks on the usage of multi-purpose furniture, whether do they find
it comfortable, user friendly or is it long lasting. All these feedbacks is
important for the multi-purpose furniture designer to further improve their
product to keep the customers coming back; as comfort and sustainability are
the ones that would keep a firm returning line of consumers.

quote from a book i read
The Furniture Machine ( since 1990) by Gareth Williams
quite true actually, come to think of it, designers, aspire from the existing items/ technology and using those to repackage/ remodify to something with aesthetic or uniqueness to stand out
REMINDS ME OF APPLE COMPANY.
This quote here reminds me of Dan Brown's Book THE LOST SYMBOL, whereby he talks about the bible being an encyclopedia of the brain ,and if our ancestors saw us today, they'd probably think we were GODS~~ because god is a creator, and so are we!
* not to offend any Christians out there but this is just what the book says*
